Biography
Dr. Haidar Aldaach is an environmental engineer with research experience in water and wastewater treatment, environmental sustainability, and resource recovery. He earned his Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from West Virginia University in 2025, following completion of his Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the same institution in 2015.
His doctoral research focused on environmental sustainability assessment and resource recovery in wastewater treatment systems. He conducted life cycle assessments (LCA) and life cycle cost analyses (LCCA) to evaluate the environmental and economic performance of various treatment technologies. In addition, he developed multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) frameworks to support data-driven decision-making and optimize selection among resource recovery pathways.
Before pursuing his doctoral studies, Dr. Aldaach served as a Graduate Research Assistant at The University of Akron, where he investigated phosphorus and nitrogen removal from surface water using water treatment residuals. His work also examined coagulant reactions relevant to drinking water treatment processes in Northeast Ohio.
